Fur Museums, part of Museum Salling’s school service
Schools and youth education programs are welcome in all the museum’s departments and have free admission, but you are encouraged to take advantage of the museum’s many educational programs and guided tours for schools, youth education programs etc. In addition, there are guided tours, summer schools and educational programs for adults. Our offers stem from the museum’s four disciplines: History, archaeology, nature and art.
Some of the most popular activities at Fur Museum are:
- Fossil hunt – Where the class, together with a nature guide/geologist, hunt for fossils in the molar. Related topics: Evolution, volcanism, ice ages and landscape geology.
- What do we find at the beach – A hike in the beautiful nature of Fur, with emphasis on the stones found along the beach and we talk about what story they can tell. Related topics: rock art, piers, volcanism, ice ages and possibly animals at the beach.
- Guided tour of the museum and the Geopark.
The school service offers are tailored to interest, age and prior knowledge, so they can be used from kindergarten to high school classes. In collaboration with the teacher, the offers can be combined in different ways to create a “tailor-made” event that meets your wishes and needs.
